| Super Mario
64 |
The first
real 3D platformer for the N64 setting
the standard for others to follow. Good
at the time but bettered by other efforts
since. 4/5 |
| Mario Kart
64 |
Follow up to
the original Mario Kart for the SNES,
outstanding graphics, still to be
bettered in a racing game, only let down
by lack of play modes. 4.5/5 |
| Lylat
Wars |
Imaginative
follow-up to Star Fox, great movie style
cut scenes and intriguing story
development based on your route taken.
Graphics are a bit out of date, but it
still remains a fresh idea 4.5/5 |
| Goldeneye |
Brilliant
first person shooter based on movie, lots
of levels, good difficulty curve, best
multiplayer on any console, slight
differences between game and film story
lines but what levels are in the film are
startlingly similar 5/5 |
| Diddy Kong
Racing |
The ape
co-star of Donkey Kong gets his own game,
sadly all too similar to Mario Kart
though, some tracks are very boring and
repetetive, however adventure mode is a
lasting challenge and a fresh idea. 4/5 |
| FIFA 98 |
EA's annual
update for football fan's. Another game
that was good at the time, all the
nations in the world involved as well as
domestic leagues. Graphics are poor
however, commentary is very basic and
gameplay is slow. 3/5 |
| FIFA
99 |
A huge
improvement on last years effort, extra
leagues, new competitions, excellent
soundtrack, fast gameplay and sharper
graphics as well as accurate stadia
including Ibrox. 4.5/5 |
| South Park |
A poor
attempt to produce a Goldeneye-like game
based on the hillarious TV series,
graphics aren't bad, but Multiplayer is
appalling, the first player storyline
looks as if it's been thrown together,
and it really just isn't fun to play. 2/5 |
| Banjo-
Kazooie |
A successful
attempt from RARE to dethrone Mario as
the King of platformers, some ideas are
absolute rip-offs, but there are some
intriguing new features that sets it
apart, bright, colourful but detailed
levels, a fun game-show style quiz at the
end and a well produced soundtrack make
this a definite Mario beater 4.5/5 |
| Legend
of Zelda |
Zelda makes
it's first appearance on the N64, a it's
a real cracker, loadsa cut scenes,
exciting storyline, impressive graphics
and soundtrack are just some of the great
things about this RPG, see full review
for more 5/5 |
| 1080
Snowboarding |
Wide variety
of play modes, a game with lasting
challenges yet simplew to pick up and
play. Trick Attack is a personal
favourite. 4/5 |
| Star Wars:
Rogue Squadron |
Making up
for the failure of Shadows of the Empire,
Rogue Squadron has lots of high quality
speech, Hi-Res graphics, lots of large
levels and a variety of different
missions and spacecraft. 4.5/5 |
| Star
Wars: Episode 1 Racer |
Over 20
tracks over 20 racers, Hi res graphics,
lasting challenge, fun to play as a one-
off, all this from a 10 minute part of
the film. 5/5 |
| Donkey Kong
64 |
Jaw dropping
graphics, large levels, five charcters to
play as, a rock hard challenge, often
frustrating. Multiplayer is a bit poor
though. 5/5 |
| F
Zero X |
Lots of Play
modes, lots of tracks, lots of characters
and vehicles, not the greatest of
graphics but that is insignificant a fun
game to play. 5/5 |
