Best Bit: Lobbing a shell at your mate to win a hard fought battle match

The sequel to the SNES original is back! An all round fun racing game, Mario Kart boasts 8 characters and 16 tracks. There are four play modes: Grand Prix, Versus, Time Trial and Battle. Grand Prix is enjoyable at first, however that and indeed the one player attraction doesn't last very long sadly, the multiplayer however is far better Battle is always a laugh and playing versus against friends can make for varying difficulties every time. The tracks are beautifully rendered in 3D whilst maintaining the cartoony look, tracks such as Royal Raceway, Koopa Troopa Beach and D.K Jungle Parkway are perfect examples of the bright cheery atmosphere. Other interesting themes include travelling along a highway along with real lorries and buses on Toads Turnpike. It's a good fun racer with only the 1 player overshadowed by Diddy Kong. 90%
