South Park
(N64, PSX, PC)
Its just that
simple, great graphics does not make a great game.
Not to say that the graphics are that impressive.
When it was revealed
that Acclaim were going to be releasing a South
Park game there certainly was a great interest.
Since the game game out there has been nothing
but a great
disappointment. The 1 player game itself, is about
saving South Park from a comet, sent by aliens to
destroy the town, and you as Kyle, Stan, Cartman
and Kenny must stop them. This involves destoying
mutant turkeys, killing Big Gay Al imposters and
pissing in snowballs. It's fun at first, but it
gets boring and repetetive. The fact that there's
a really obvious level select cheat means you can
get the game over with quicker.
The hi-res graphics
represent South Park as well as could be
expected, cartoony but carboardy. The multiplayer
is very poor,
unlike Goldeneye's reasonably big and detailed
levels, South Park's are small, poor and boring.
Even throwing dodgeballs at people doesn't have
the same satisfaction as lobbing a grenade at
them.
The 'swearing' and
running jokes are brief saving graces, but in the
end this is one of the poorest games I've
played.
