Fifa 99 (N64,
PSX, PC)
Players: 1-4, Game
Type: Football Sim, Made by: EA Sports
Best Bit: Scoring a
Dramatic Last Minute Goal to win a European
Trophy, Man United style!
Why do some
magazines underrate FIFA so much? The latest
installment has two new
leagues plus loadsa extra Euopean Teams and all
the European Cups. Then there is the much sped up
gameplay which flows so much better and indeed
the control delay of FIFA 98 seems now to be non-
existant. There are tons of new skill moves such
as the double step over and step over nutmeg and
now heading and volleying
is much easier. This years FIFA also sees may new
play modes: The european dream league and golden
goal and also 20 amazing stadia including Ibrox,
Old Trafford, the Santiago Bernabou and the
Stadio Del Alppi, sadly only truly brought to
life on the N64. There is some great commentry
again from John Motson and a brilliant soundtrack
from Fatboy Slim. The only let down on the N64 is
how the World Class difficulty
setting makes your goalie poorer rather than the
computer actually outplaying you, scoring some
dubiously soft goals from long range, wheras on
the PC goalkeeping skills are always world class.
Well worth buying, a quality game which easily
warrants a rating of 91%.
