Best Bit: The exceedingly happy ending sequence!

This was one of the first games out for the N64, and it is still one of the best. Despite being overshadowed by Rare's fine production Banjo Kazooie, it is a brilliant game! Same old story: Bowser kidnpas the Princess, Mario must save the Princess, it never changes. Thankfully the game itself has! Mario makes the change to 3D brialliantly. Some levels are very basic compared to more recent efforts but there are in their own right up there with the best and they do improve as the game goes on, levels such as Rainbow Ride truly are amazing. The game is a huge challenge with 120 stars in all to be collected, many well hidden. Despite being two and a half years old the game is still a masterpiece and is worthy of one of the highest ratings: 95%
